We are inviting candidates to apply for the position of Nature based Solution Demonstration Coordinator, RECOFTC Thailand. The successful applicant will be based in the RECOFTC Thailand office in Bangkok, Thailand. The contract duration is for 24 months with a possibility of extension subject to project funding and satisfactory performance. The position is for Thai nationals only. An offer of employment is subject to funding confirmation.

About the Project

The Urban Resilience Building and Nature project duration is 60 months with support by International Climate Change Protection Initiative (IKI). The project will make a significant contribution to climate change adaptation in up to six local administrative organizations in Chiangrai and Suratthani province of Thailand. Adaptation will be enhanced through a variety of potential Nature based Solutions measures, including wetland restoration, conservation and management; enhanced management of urban environment; forest restoration; the creation of urban forests and green spaces; mangrove restoration; sustainable land use plans, and improved management of public and private gardens and commercial landholdings. The project will be led and managed by IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature). RECOFTC is a project partner to lead demonstrations of Nature based Solutions in the target areas with IUCN, and to provide technical inputs in assisting the target beneficiaries and some government agencies at local level in implementing Nature based Solution projects.

Tasks and Duties

The Nature based Solution Demonstration Coordinator is a member of RECOFTC Thailand and works under the direct supervision of the Capacity Development and Research Coordinator, RECOFTC Thailand. The successful candidate will manage the project and ensure effective and timely planning, development, delivery and monitoring and evaluation.

The Nature based Solution Demonstration Coordinator’s specific tasks and duties includes:

a.       Project planning and implementation

  • Lead project management activities including project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and reporting to ensure that the project can successfully achieve its objectives
  • Lead the coordination with IUCN’s Project Manager, Field Project Coordinator, project consortium, key partners, and target groups in project site, as well as organizing workshops and meetings in Chiangrai and Surat Thani province
  • Collect data, coordinate, and facilitate the development of Nature based Solutions project proposals in collaboration with municipalities, sub-district administrative organizations, and key partners in Chiangrai and Surat Thani province
  • Provide capacity development, training and learning events on urban resilience for communities and local subdistrict administration office
  • Perform ecological performance measurement by using IUCN’s Urban Nature Index in collaboration with IUCN’s field coordinator in Chiangrai and Surat Thani province

b.      Project monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL)

  • Monitor progress towards stated activities and outputs mentioned in the project’s implementation plan and financial situation and adjust the project plan as needed for ensuring the successful implementation of the project
  • Manage the project’s financial resources with prudence and probity, and be fully accountable for expenditures in accordance with IKI, IUCN and RECOFTC policies and procedures
  • Prepare the project’s progress report, including narrative and financial report and other supporting documents and ensure timely submission
  • Provide inputs for RECOFTC’s internal MEL process to capture lessons learned, outputs and outcomes achieved within a specific period
  • Responsible for the documentation and dissemination of lessons learned, innovative knowledge, tools, processes and experiences of good practice of the project

c.       Partnership and communication

  • Liaise and develop networks with project consortium, governmental partners in local and national level, and other agencies for information exchange, strategic operations and networking
  • Represent RECOFTC in meetings, public events and networking related to the project
  • Engage in advocacy with government and non-government sectors at all levels
  • Work with the communication team to document project results, develop communication products, enhance project’s outreach, and disseminate key achievements and lessons learned to wider audiences

d.      Others

  • Maintain quality and traceable records and project information in a project data storage system
  • Work with other team members to integrate cross-cutting initiatives and ensure coherence at a RECOFTC Thailand program level
  • Perform relevant tasks as assigned by the Capacity Development and Research Coordinator

Qualifications and experience:

The Nature based Solution Demonstration Coordinator will have the following essential qualifications and experience.

Essential

  • University degree or equivalent in Forestry, Environmental Studies, Development Studies, Social Science, or related fields
  • At least five years of professional experience in community development work, natural resource management or environmental conservation field training
  • Working experience in Nature based Solutions, urban planning, and conservation oriented livelihood development
  • Knowledgeable in project management methodologies and tools
  • Excellent English proficiency and computer literacy
  • Good report writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to lead the team and work with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong communication, networking and facilitation skills
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the country
  • Thai national only

Desirable

  • Knowledge of database and online applications
  • Ability to self-learn and maintain continuous learning, motivation and self-development
  • Willing to support team members and partners’ capacity to grow within the area of responsibility
  • Result-oriented and ability to prioritize tasks to meet competing demands and strict deadlines
